It’s that time of the year Ohana. That’s right, the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout is back, and Ke Iki Beach Bungalows is once again a proud supporter for the event’s “Wave of the Winter”. Otherwise, you may simply trust us when we say that it’s the highlight and most locally legitimate event of the North Shore surf contest schedule. When is the 2024 Da Hui Backdoor Shootout?
The contest waiting period runs from January 4-16 2024. The event will run when wave conditions are ideal.
How to Know When the Contest is Called ON
The event will run when wind and swell conditions bring ideal waves that will allow competitors to put on an amazing show. Monitor the Backdoor Pipeline surf report here. If you see the report indicate that conditions are GOOD or better, the event will probably be called ON for the day. At press, the event may indeed run in the first few days of the waiting period:

In addition to monitoring the Backdoor Pipeline surf report, be sure to check-in on KBB’s Facebook and Instagram as we will alert guests and followers as to when the event is called ON.
How to Get to the Contest Site from Ke Iki Beach Bungalows
The Da Hui Backdoor Shootout is held at the world famous Banzai Pipeline, which is adjacently left (facing makai – to the ocean) of Ehukai Beach Park. Get directions from Ke Iki Beach Bungalows. It’s just a 2-minute drive, 7-minute bike ride, or 20-minute walk from our gate.
