Wellness can mean different things to different people, but when looked at from a holistic perspective it becomes clear that it is something we could all use more of in our lives. In essence, holistic wellness is a comprehensive approach to health that views an individual as a whole, considering the interconnectedness of their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects. The whole mind, body, and soul thing. One may think that by default, a vacation in Hawaii can attain all of this, but in reality, the hustle and bustle of the over-densified resort communities in our archipelago can have the opposite effect.
This is where Ke Iki Beach Bungalows on the magical North Shore of Oahu comes in.
In addition to our isolated oceanfront property being innately wellness-supporting, we have invested in three key ingredients to achieving well-being and harmony that will stay with you long after you’ve left our embrace. Below is an overview of all you need to know.
How Staying at Ke Iki Beach Bungalows Will Transform Your Mind, Body, and Soul
Benefits of Yoga at KBB
Guests of Ke Iki Beach Bungalows (KBB) enjoy complimentary daily yoga classes at 9 AM from Monday to Friday and at 9:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday. When not in use for classes, guests are welcome to enjoy the outdoor studio to strike a Shavasana, Cobra, or classic Downward-facing Dog pose whenever inspiration manifests.
Even just one session of yoga is associated with a number of research-backed advantages pertaining to both physical and mental wellness, all of which are elevated when done under the canopy of our on-premises studio.
Physical Health Benefits
- Builds muscle strength, and improves the range of motion in joints and the spine. This enhances performance in a variety of activities that you may enjoy near our property (i.e. surfing, swimming, hiking, etc.) and can help reduce pain and inflammation.
- Activates and strengthens the core.
- Improves overall stability and balance.
- Improve blood flow and circulation throughout the body.
- Can help lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose levels, making it beneficial for cardiovascular health.
Mental and Behavioral Health Benefits
- Calms the nervous system and lowers stress levels by promoting mindfulness, which focuses the mind on the present moment (over life’s stressors) and movements.
- Helps improve concentration and attention.
- Fosters internal awareness of the body’s strengths and weaknesses through focused muscle engagement and stretching.
- Boosts self-esteem and confidence.
- Positively affects brains chemistry, supporting a healthy release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin which can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and cooccurring conditions. It can serve as a supplement to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and support treatment programs for a wide variety of behavioral health issues relating to process addictions and more.

Benefits of Cold Plunge at KBB
Guests enjoy complimentary access to our cold plunge tub, also referred to as an ice bath, cold water immersion (CWI) tank, or cold therapy tub. Yes, it’s a shock to the system BUT the experience is associated with a surprising number of research-backed wellness benefits.
The potential benefits of using our cold plunge include the following:
- As with yoga, an ice bath can support a healthy release of dopamine and norepinephrine which can suppress cortisol (the stress hormone) and support mental and behavioral health.
- Can slow blood flow, reduce swelling, and decrease inflammation after activities that you may partake in here on the North Shore (i.e. body surfing, surfing, swimming, hiking, riding the bike path, etc.) which helps soothe sore muscles and joints.
- Can raise the body’s metabolic rate and help it burn more calories. Cold exposure is also known to help convert white fat into brown fat. For the initiated, brown fat burns energy to create heat, while white fat stores excess energy in the form of large droplets. Most people want/need more of the former.
- Can improve circulation.
- Can support immune function.
- Can support sleep function.

Disclaimer: It is recommended for some to receive approval from their physician prior to doing any cold plunge, namely those who have heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. If you haven’t done a cold plunge before, begin with short durations (30 seconds to a minute) and a less extreme temperature. You can gradually increase the time throughout the duration of your stay at KBB, and decrease the temperature as you get used to it. Also, listen to your body. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.
Benefits of Infrared Sauna + Red Light Therapy at KBB
Go from one extreme to the next, albeit in a more subdued and laid back atmosphere. Wind in our infrared + red light therapy sauna which is also complimentary to guests as a part of the KBB wellness experience.
The potential benefits of our infrared + red light therapy sauna include the following:
- Activates the body’s relaxation response, which helps to reduce stress and tension.
- Improves blood circulation and increases endorphin production, which ultimately promotes feelings of calm.
- Provides relief from muscle aches and joint discomfort, including those which are symptoms of arthritis or a variety of musculoskeletal issues.
- May assist with muscle recovery and relief of chronic pain.
- Can help purify and improve skin tone/elasticity through enhanced circulation, beneficial sweating, accelerate collagen production, and enhanced cellular repair.
- Lowers blood pressure and enhances blood circulation to support cardiovascular health.
- May assist with detoxification through sweating.
- Can burn calories and boost metabolism.
- May support the immune system through heat which is known to stimulate white blood cell production.
